LUX Infusion Earns NICA Accreditation
Recognized for Excellence in Ambulatory Infusion Care
Exceptional care isn’t just a promise at LUX Infusion—it’s our daily standard and constant mission. Honored for embodying our commitment to excellence, LUX Infusion is proud to announce that our team has earned the prestigious National Infusion Center Association (NICA) Accreditation.
This illustrious distinction is an independent recognition built on rigorous standards for ambulatory infusion centers. It’s designed to establish a standardized network of trusted infusion centers for patients, payers, and referring providers.

What Is the NICA Accreditation Program?
The NICA Accreditation Program sets industry benchmarks for quality and safety in infusion care.
Aiming to improve consistency across infusion enterprises, the NICA Accreditation Program:
Protects patients through objective measurement of high-quality care
Raises visibility for accredited centers among payers, patients, and prescribers
Establishes an “Infusion Center of Excellence” network nationwide, making it easier to find and connect with trusted infusion clinics in any state in the U.S.
Given that the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) does not currently have a program category for infusion clinics, the NICA Accreditation Program serves as a reliable, unbiased distinction that highlights top-tier centers, even in the absence of a CMS category.
NICA Accreditation Program Standards
NICA accreditation requirements are based on the NICA Standards of Excellence for Ambulatory Infusion Centers—the first and only Approved American National Standards specifically for ambulatory infusion centers.
These standards were developed by NICA as an ANSI-Accredited Standards Developer, using an in-depth, comprehensive, consensus-driven process that engages diverse infusion-care stakeholders.
In plain terms, that means the bar is high and transparent, with the standards reflecting:
Current best practices
Laws and regulations
Evidence-based guidance for provider-administered medications delivered in outpatient settings.
Originally designed for ambulatory infusion centers with licensed independent practitioners, the NICA Standards extend to all outpatient environments in which providers administer medications via IV, IM, subcutaneous, or intradermal routes.
NICA Accreditation Eligibility & Process
Organizations eligible for NICA Accreditation include freestanding, office-based, hospital-based, and pharmacy-based infusion centers operating in the U.S. or its territories that:
Implemented specific policies, procedures, and best practices
Maintain all appropriate licensure
Are fully compliant with all applicable laws
Operate at least one dedicated infusion center.
Eligible clinics can move through the comprehensive, multi-step accreditation process, which generally involves:
Completing an application: The online application walks through organizational details, site(s), licensure, and key contacts to initiate NICA’s eligibility review.
Sign the agreement & pay program fees: Upon enrollment, participating organizations receive the NICA Standards and guidance for preparing required materials.
Complete the self-evaluation report (SER): NICA will carry out a structured, internal review of each applicant to gauge readiness and identify any gaps in Standards.
Conduct the accreditation benchmark assessment (ABA): This detailed evaluation focuses on compliance, supported policies, procedures, and other objective evidence.
Conduct the accreditation assessment: NICA will review charts and files, carrying out interviews, touring facilities, and monitoring on-site care to validate real-world practice.
Summarize findings: The assessment team will issue a report outlining strengths, opportunities, and any corrective actions needed to meet accreditation thresholds.
Complete the committee review: An independent committee weighs the full record to reach an official accreditation determination.
Issue a determination: Successful applicants receive a Certificate of Accreditation that is valid for three years and subject to ongoing compliance.
Monitor accredited facilities on an ongoing basis: Accredited centers will need to submit annual quality reports and maintain adherence to the Standards to retain their accreditation status.
